Manifesting Your Dream Life Starts with Decluttering

So I spoke at the Home Life & You show on Saturday 18th October, on the Life HQ stage with Jemma Solomon, aka The Label Lady. It was such a fab day. The audience was full, the energy was amazing, and honestly, I could have talked for hours.

Except, of course, the moment Gemma asked me to introduce myself, the nerves kicked in and my brain left my body...

Loads of people tagged my in Instagram stories and came up to me afterwards to say they loved the talk and found it really inspirational — which is always lovely, but you know how it is. You walk off thinking, I didn’t say half of what I meant to say. So I thought I’d turn it into a blog, for anyone who missed the session, couldn't come to the event or wanted to know more!

These were the questions we’d planned to cover with the answers I didn’t quite get to finish saying out loud.

What do you actually mean by ‘manifesting your dream life’?

Manifesting is really just the process of making something real. It’s not just journaling or hoping something will happen. It’s about getting clear on what you want, aligning your environment and energy with that vision, and then taking action from a place of belief. Manifest literally means “to make manifest” — to bring something into physical reality.

The way I see it is that your home is a portal. If your house is full of chaos, overwhelm, and stuff that doesn’t reflect who you are or what you want… how on earth can you expect your dream life to land? It’s like trying to invite in abundance when there’s no space for it to arrive.

People believe in Wi-Fi, right? We all use it, we rely on it daily, and most of us couldn’t explain how it works if our lives depended on it. Manifestation is just energy. Frequency. Intention. It’s the same thing, but instead of streaming Netflix, we’re streaming in aligned opportunities, relationships, income, clarity… whatever we’re calling in.

And how does that connect to decluttering?

Your space holds energy. Every drawer, shelf or random corner that’s driving you mad; it’s either reflecting the version of you you’re growing into… or dragging you back into a version you’ve outgrown.

Clutter blocks clarity. It blocks action. It blocks aligned decision-making. When you declutter, you’re not just clearing physical space, you’re telling the universe (and yourself): “I’m ready for more.”

This is why manifestation without decluttering rarely works long-term. You can do all the visualising and intention setting in the world, but if you’re still surrounded by the energetic residue of your past, how can your future find you?

Someone asked me about her wardrobe…

During the Q&A, one woman said her wardrobe was completely out of control. Her husband's clothes had been moved into a box, not even a drawer, an actual box, and hers were bursting out of every corner!

She said she didn’t even find it that hard to declutter, she just didn’t do it.

But after a bit of back and forth, it became clear the issue wasn’t so much about letting go, it was about what she was bringing in. She’d see something she liked and buy it in every colour. And I get it, especiially as a former clothes shopping addict, sometimes the high of buying something new can feel like progress. But if you're constantly bringing things in without questioning whether they reflect the woman you're becoming, the clutter will just keep building.

That’s why I created my Wardrobe Glow-Up Guide; not just to help you let go of what no longer suits you, but to actually shift your buying habits and realign your wardrobe with your future self.

It’s like getting my expert brain in your pocket without the one-to-one price tag and it's LOVED by my VIP email subscribers and social audience who have had amazing results... 👏🏼

“Fantastic guide for wardrobe decluttering; I’m so much happier with my wardrobe now, and dividing my clothes into sections has really helped speed up the process of deciding what to wear each day! Thank you Amy!”  - Jess

If your wardrobe’s bursting and nothing ever quite feels right to wear, you can grab it here and use the code HLY50 to get it for 50% off. You're welcome...

And the impact of that PDF download? Way bigger than just a few bin bags of stuff. You’ll stop panic-buying things you already own, get back hours every week by actually liking your clothes, and start your mornings feeling clear, calm, and pulled-together instead of chaotic and annoyed... without having bulging wardrove-fuelled rows with your partner over = less stress and we all know how bad excess cortisol is!

The tiny investment you make in this guide will pay you back over and over again; in time, confidence, clarity, and cold hard cash saved on stuff you never needed in the first place.

How can the stuff in our homes actually hold us back?

Because it’s never just stuff, is it? That pile of old clothes = shame. That cupboard full of paperwork = decisions you’ve delayed. That drawer of random bits = mental noise that chips away at your energy every time you see it.

Most women I work with are overwhelmed. They’re burnt out. They’re holding onto stuff from old identities, past versions of themselves, fear of waste, guilt, perfectionism, pressure to be sustainable, the list goes on.

And that clutter? It creates a constant low-level stress response in your body. It’s like your nervous system can never relax. So you stay stuck in survival mode; unable to access the clarity, creativity, or self-worth you need to move forward.

How do we begin to know what we really want, so we can align our homes with that vision?

Start by getting brutally honest about what’s not working. What feels heavy, chaotic, misaligned? What are you tolerating that the next-level version of you would never put up with?

Then, create space to actually hear yourself. Most of us are so overstimulated, so surrounded by mess and noise and tasks, we can’t feel what we want. So we default to what’s easy, what’s safe, what everyone else is doing.

Your home is the quickest portal to access that deeper clarity. Because when you declutter the stuff that no longer feels like you; you reconnect with the woman you’re becoming.

How do you help clients discover and express the lives they want?

We don’t just start with stuff. We start with self-concept. Who is the woman you’re becoming? How does she live, dress, move, feel, make decisions? What kind of environment would she need to thrive?

Then we reverse-engineer it. We declutter anything that doesn’t belong to that version of you; and we build systems, rhythms, and visual cues that support her.

It’s a blend of mindset, energetics, and practical support. And honestly? The results are wild. Because once your outer world reflects your inner truth; you start living as her now. Not one day. Now.

Why do I say clutter is more of a mindset block than a time issue?

Because every woman I work with is busy. But I’ve seen women who work full-time, run businesses, solo parent; and still make radical changes once their mindset shifts.

Clutter is about fear. Guilt. Identity. Attachment. Perfectionism. People-pleasing. Sustainability paralysis. It’s rarely about not having time. (Even when you are BUSY AF!) It’s about what we’re making the mess mean.

And when we shift the belief system behind the stuff; the letting go becomes so much easier. You stop negotiating with everything. You stop justifying. You just know, this doesn’t belong in my future...

What are some of the most common barriers to change and letting go?

This is such an important one. Most people don’t resist change because they’re lazy,  incapable or busy, they resist it because change threatens identity.

Letting go can feel like loss. Like grief. Especially when our stuff is tied to who we’ve been: the mother, the career woman, the one who always keeps everything “just in case.”

Other huge blocks? Perfectionism; thinking you have to get it all done in one weekend or not at all. Guilt; especially about waste or gifts. And control; trying to force others in the household to change before we’ve taken responsibility for ourselves.

You can’t control your partner’s clutter. You can’t force your kids to tidy. But you can model the change. And when your energy shifts? Everything around you starts to shift too.

What does your home say about your self-concept and Identity?

Your home is a mirror. It reflects what you believe you’re worthy of, what you’re tolerating, and how connected you feel to your future self.

This might be hard to hear, but a cluttered, chaotic home is often a sign of low self-respect. Not in a shaming way, but in a “I’ve been running on empty and I’ve forgotten how much I matter” kind of way.

When you respect yourself, you stop surrounding yourself with things that drain you. You stop living in chaos. You raise your standards, not just in your space, but in every area of your life.

Your environment is an energetic blueprint of who you believe you are. So if you want to shift your self-concept? Start with your space.

What’s one thing you can do today if you feel overwhelmed?

Start with one surface or small box. Just one. Clear it completely. Wipe it. Style it if you want. And then leave it clear.

That one space becomes your anchor. Proof that change is possible. That it doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

You don’t need a whole weekend or a fancy plan. You just need one clear space to remind yourself that you're capable of shifting things.
